#14 WWI Tanks

MkIV Male Tank by Blue

User friendliness:
Getting into the MkIV is pretty easy. Entering the driver compartment is easy as well, and all functions are properly labelled and do as they should. The engine startup takes a bit of running around, but a helpful manual directs the engineer. Gunning is somewhat easy as the guns are controlled by arrow buttons. The lack of a seat in the area makes it hard to use the scope though as you constantly have to adjust yourself while the tank is moving. Finding the ammo is not easy either, butting getting everything reloaded fortunatly is. Driving is somewhat easy. Gearing too fast stalls the engine, which requires you to crank the starter at the back again. Steering is responsive and the on-the-spot turning is very smooth. Not recommended for newbies and takes a bit of training.

7/10

Performance:

The MkIV reaches its true speed of just 5 KM/H, but handles very well aside from the stall-prone gearing and engine. The range is unknown thanks to no fuel gauge. The craft is not very survivable, but easy access to repair tools allow it to keep fighting. If it has a seven-strong crew, the two HACs and three MGs make it a menace on any battlefield. Overall pretty good.
7/10

Design:

The MkIV looks incredible from the outside with tons of greebles and detailing. It sports a desert camo that continues into the interior, while I'd rather it be a different color, but the interior detailing makes up for it. The tank itself looks a ton like the real one. Very well made!

Feedback and Suggestions

-Great extior!

-Nice attention to detail and realism

-Maybe have some signs around to help people locate stuff.

Renault FT17 by Ahikatsu

User friendliness:
Getting into the FT17 is not easy, however, a well-made manual aids in the process, but the process is still many steps. The driver controls it all in a very compact compartment with all basic readouts and both a handheld and a mounted radio. Everything does as it should. However, there is a lack of a gunsight so aiming the gun is difficult. The FT17 is very easy to drive and gears at lightning speeds, but it lacks on-the-spot turning. Getting out in the case of an emergency is extremely difficult, and all repair tools are outside. There is a trailer included for repair, re-arming, and refueling, and notes help you as you work. Overall pretty good, with the exception of the entering/exiting.
7.5/10

Performance:

TheFT17 reaches the perfect speed for a WWI tank at 30 KM/H in high gear. Its offroad abilities are pleasent as well aided by the easy controlability of the tank. The range is poor, but the refueling trailer helps dampen its affect at the cost of handling. There is a machine gun and light autocannon mounted on the tank, but the machine gun is inoperable due to a mis-aligned ammo box. Instead of the guns elevating, the turret elevates, which allows for very limited firing angles. As I said before, there is no gunsight so aiming is difficult. The tank survivability is near '0', and the trailer is prone to becoming a fireworks display; all easy pickings for a soldier with a rifle. Finally, the trailer can seat four soldiers. Overall pretty good while lacking in combat ability.
6.5/10

Design:

The FT17 has no camo and is painted different shades of green-blue. The words "RENAULT" are found on one sided of the tank, and a girl with croissant pasted against the french flag on the other. Behind the trailer is a random anime character(?). This whole scheme may be an anime reference, but I personally don't watch anime so I have no clue. The whole shape mimics the FT17 well, and even the trailer looks good. The interior is a plain gray and very cramped inside. There are quite a few XML color collisions, however, and it does not resemble a war-torn vehicle. Overall pretty decent!
7.5/10

Overall: 7.16/10

Feedback and Suggestions

-Nice exterior, however it lacks gritty WWI camo and greebles and looks more like a civilian tractor almost

-Drives nicely, but on-the-spot steering would be a welcome feature

-Needs a gunsight

LAV-I by Dio.

User friendliness:

Getting into the LAV is very easy, thanks to three different hatches. All of the necessities are there and everything is clearly labeled. Driving is easy, except getting into gear since you know you have to get into gear but the hotkey is not labeled. Gunning is somewhat easy? The scope is terrible but there is sensitivity dampening, you have to manually reload after every shot. Overall pretty good.

 7/10

Performance

The LAV is pretty fast with a top speed of 60 KM/H and the range to keep it going for a while. The gun doesn't do much as it's a single-shot LAC. Don't expect it to take hits, either. It does find use in its ability to tow things and carry six people however. Better off as an APC lacking protection for carrying friendly soldiers around in occupied cities and shooting a random civilian maybe. Overall not the best for fighitng in a world war.

 6/10

Design:

The LAV looks a ton like a racecar with a random turret on top and a pickup rear and sports a weathered green-blue paint job. There aren't as many greebles as usual in Dio's builds, probably due to the limited space. The interior is one of the few painted an actual color, and carries with it varying paints for other components. Overall pretty good!

 8.5/10

Overall: 7.16/10

Feedback and Suggestions

-Maybe pack a larger gun

-Interesting design

-The Great War needs vehicles that can kill something other than a random soldier

Lilly Tank - BOMPS

 User friendliness:

Getting into the Lilly Tank seems straightforward, but you need perfectly timed crouch jumping to get inside, which might take quite a few attempts. The driver's area is easy to get to and the dashboard is clearly labelled, uncluttered, and does as it should. The gunning position is the same, and both the driver and gunner can control the tank thanks to an easy switch method. The scope is a bit small and the detailing obstructs view, but it features sensitivity dampening making aiming easy. The Lilly Tank is very easy to drive and gears quickly, however, it has no on-the-spot turning and has a wide turn radius. Everything inside is easy to get to and operate. Overall pretty good!

7.5/10

Performance:

The Lilly Tank reaches a top speed of 24 KM/H and is easy to drive as I said before. However, the lack of on-the-spot turning and the wide turning radius can cause problems. It can't sustain its battery charge and lacks a recharging port. It carries a single HAC in the turret that is easy to aim but must be manually loaded after every shot. The tank does not have a lot of armor and can't take many hits but everything can be easily repaired. Overall pretty good for a support tank, but not fit for frontline combat.

6.5/10

Design:

The Lilly Tank sports desert camo, a big turret, and an arching body. Linear tracks, exhausts and rocket fuel makes up most of the exterior decoration. Two non-functional jerry cans are strapped to the rear as well. The interior meets the same level of decoration, however there is little color difference betwen the outside and inside paint coat. The gunner seat can lift up, but no electricity is hooked up, rendering it inoperable. Overall decent.
7/10

Overall: 7/10

Feedback and Suggestions

-Nice exterior and use of XML signs for the track covering.

-Check connections

-Maybe differentiate the interior and exterior coats a bit more

char 2d "prussyan wagon" by Anusflotze

User friendliness:
Getting into the wagon takes a bit as you have to run around the whole tank until you find the two entry hatches at the back. Despite all of the machinery you see making the long walk to the cluttered but well-labeled and entirely-functional driver's compartment, startup is very easy. If only the war wasn't won by the time you had steam flowing through your systems. Once you get driving, it is super easy. Gunning, however, has drawbacks. The turret is very responsive, but no sensitivity dampening makes it super hard to aim at normal player FOV. Overall decent.
6/10

Performance:

The wagon is pretty fast for a tank of its size (~30 KM/H) while it has plenty of fuel to keep it going for a while. It turns quickly and has nice on-the-spot turning. The gun hits hard and there is a decent amount of ammo to keep it going. However, if you're hit by a higher-caliber shell, the steam engine (that's right, a steam engine) is easily knocked out--heaven forbid your ammo rack is hit. The driver's position and turret can easily succumb to low-caliber fire. There are tow cables, allowing the massive power to be used to haul wrecked vehicles away. Finally, it is easily restocked thanks to an outside hopper. Fares better in secondary attacks with other tanks of the same type or in supporting roles.
6.5/10

Design:

The very long wagon is one of the few entries with varying camo and exterior detailing. It sports a dark-green paint on the outside with greebles like logs, smokestacks, radiators, air intakes, linear tracks, a serial number, ports, a the flag of the Second German Reich, and sliding tracks. The interior, however, is a plain white most of the way. There is a cool shell ejector, but shells rarely go through it, so it kind of looks like an ear.
7/10

Overall: 6.5/10

Feedback and Suggestions

-Paint your interior

-Add sensitivity dampening

-It's nice to be reviewing a tank with actual camo!

Fiat 2000 by Febreeze the Cheese

User Friendliness:

Getting into the 2000 is easy, and the driver compartment is less than bare bones with only an engine key and an engine RPS and temperature gauge present. The tank is easy to drive and gears quickly, but even with the split braking functions, it turns super slowly. Manning the guns is easy, however the zoom is way to far from the target and a lacking crosshair makes aiming difficult. Reloading isn't easy either. Overall pretty mixed
6/10

Performance:

The 2000 is a brick, and it drives like on. The top speed is unknown due to the lack of a speedometer, but it is very slow and turns just the same. The brick status does come in handy in terms of survivability, however, with vitals being safe from large calibers. The armament--one HAC and six MGs--on board is very weak, and some machine guns require infinite ammo while others spawn unloaded, completely draining the reserves the second the guns are loaded. The lack of a gunsight and proper zoom makes aiming difficult as said before. Overall not effective enough to be a proper fighting vehicle.
5.5/10

Design:

The 2000 is very boxy and painted a green-gray everywhere, even the interior. The only exterior detail is the well-written "Fiat" logo. Overall very bland.
5/10

Overall: 5.66/10

Feedback and Suggestions

-Try being less boxy

 -Include a speedometer

 -Match your armament with size

RGM 208 Siegfried by Re0ns

 User Friendliness:

Gettign into the RGM isn't the easiest as you have to guess where the top-mounted hatch is. The driving compartment is very basic with a fuel gauge and a speedometer as the only readouts. The engine starter is all the way in the back of the tank, which properly represents the MkIV. Driving is very easy and the controls are responsive, however, there are no brakes. Gunning is easy but not convinient. The guns do not elevate, but you can zoom in on the scope. Reloading is super easy though. The turret sponsons retract, but the width is not decreased thanks to how the barrels stick out. Overall very basic.
6/10

Performance:

The RGM is fast going straight (~14.5 M/S) and has modest range. It is very slow while turning, however, and on-the-spot steering is hard to transition to and very slow. Besides the top-mounted MG, there are two sponsons, each with two hard-hitting guns. They can not elevate but are somewhat easy to control. In terms of armor thickness, it does well and everything is difficult to knock out. Heaven forbid you're penetrated by an HE or AP round though, as hundreds of rounds of HAC AP and MG incendiary will go off inside of the tank, killing everyone inside instantly. Repairing should be fairly easy, but there are no fire extinguishers or welding torches present--a major setback. Finally, there are no lights on the tank, causing operation to come to a standstill at night. Not recommended for front-line service.
4.5/10

Design:

The RGM resembles a MkIV tank with an akward green-yellow paint with no color variation. There is little detail besides weight blocks for rivets and some logs on the top. The interior is a plain white on most components. Overall very bland.
5/10

Overall: 4.83/10

Feedback and Suggestions:

-Add exterior details

-Add interior paint differences and detail

-Don't stow so much ammo

Modeus Furor by High Frag

 User Friendliness:
The second I spawn in the Furor, I'm met with a green metal monster...with no way in. Granted there are hatches on top, but there's no way to get up the massive chassis. Once you get into the driving compartment, you're met with a super basic driver compartment. When you go and turn stuff on, you realise another problem: there is no electricity anywhere. Once you get infinite electric on though, the tank is very easy to drive and operate while controls are very responsive. Gunning is also very easy, except the zoom is lower than that of player FOV and aiming is difficult. There is a commander spot with equally low zoom but they have access to a topside hatch. Overall pretty good except it requires infinite electric and there is no way to get to the hatches.
3/10

Performance:

The Furor is pretty slow, but fast for its size. This is probably thanks to the air being desalinated, bringing the engine more power, or it's just the enormous cylinder count. It turns very well, and as I said before, the controls are responsive. The gun is incredibly powerful and rivals that of ships, if only the scope was zoomed in enough that you could see what you're aiming at. The side has thick armor, but the driver's position, engine, and turret are easily knocked out. The lack of any form of ladders and the difficulty of manuevering through the tank makes repairing difficult, especially with the complete lack of fire extinuguishers and welding torches. Ambushing could be a solution, but the massive frame is easily seen. With survivability compromised, performance goes way down.
4/10

Design:

TheFuror is several slabs of green armor that looks more like a KV-2 than a WWII tank with no outside decoration besides weight blocks creating rivets and some wedges. The interior is just plain white with no detailing or color changes in any of the components. The size is impressive, but it likely wouldn't do so well in the field as it's too large to be transported, go under tunnels, and fit inside bridges. Probably the best design detial is the control sticks/levers in the driver's compartment which reacts to gears, reversing, and other inputs. Overall very bland.
5/10

Overall: 4/10

Feedback and Suggestions:

-Add zoom to your guns

-Add repair tools to your interior

-Artillery guns are cool, but the size they need may not be healthy towards your tank
